Discover the importance of the fashion stylist’s role. Adapt to the transformations of an ever-changing global market that offers new opportunities for professional growth every day.

The Fashion Styling Specialisation Course at IED Barcelona provides an intensive and professional training programme that immerses you in the visual universe of fashion. Throughout the course, you will develop the skills needed to transform creative ideas into real proposals, preparing you to work in editorial styling and art direction. It is an opportunity to build your professional portfolio, connect with Barcelona’s creative fashion scene, and define your own personal perspective as a stylist.

Information to decide

Discover the ins and outs of fashion styling and the essential role it plays, working on creative projects to communicate ideas in a new aesthetic language.

In this course, you will learn from professionals actively working in the fashion industry, who will guide you through theoretical classes and practical workshops, including shootings. The programme is structured into five modules that combine theory and practice: professional area, socio-cultural area, technical area, project area and communication area.

This comprehensive approach will equip you with the necessary tools to collaborate with all the stakeholders involved and to develop creative proposals for different platforms. From the conceptualisation to the final execution of looks —including make-up and photography— you will acquire the skills to tackle real-world projects with confidence and strategic vision.

This course is aimed at fashion professionals, graduates in Fine Arts, graduates in Communication, and anyone who wishes to specialise and professionalise their knowledge in the field of style.

To formalise enrolment, applicants must submit a CV and a letter of motivation. If any of the admission requirements are not met, the school will evaluate each case individually and reserves the right to invite the applicant for a personal interview.

This programme offers you a comprehensive understanding of the role of the stylist in the fashion industry and provides you with the guidelines to know how to interact with the different profiles that make it up. Throughout the course, you will understand the historical and socio-cultural context in which this profession is framed, and you will learn to translate it into creative proposals relevant to the present.

By the end, you will have the necessary tools to develop your own content, applicable to different formats and scenarios. From the initial concept to the construction of final looks, you will be able to carry out solid and personal proposals.

Studying at one of Europe’s most renowned fashion schools will allow you to refine your aesthetic judgement and improve the way you communicate your ideas. Moreover, doing so in a key fashion city will place you in an environment of constant creative and professional stimulation.

Syllabus

The course combines theory and practice to provide a solid foundation in fashion styling, starting from the cultural analysis of fashion and the study of visual, textile, and colour references. Through applied projects, students develop proposals for editorial media, training key skills such as conceptualisation, selection of pieces, composition of looks, and image direction.

The programme culminates in a professional final project that demonstrates the ability to lead visual proposals within the fashion context.
