The design and communication of spatial identities through the use of space, objects, and materials, creating innovative responses to contemporary needs.

The Master's in Interior Design prepares you to thrive in an environment of rapid change, exploring new spatial models in the residential and entertainment sectors.

On one hand, you will train in designing innovative leisure and entertainment models, a key goal for companies in the sector, which are undergoing transformation due to advances in technology, connectivity, and the desires of new generations. You will learn to create unique experiences that require new spatial models for entertainment. Fashion runways and film sets are reinvented in contemporary scenography for fashion, music, festivals, and events.

On the other hand, you will immerse yourself in designing livable spaces that evolve into hybrid experiences. In the same domestic environment, rest and socialization, work, wellness, sports, and other aspects of contemporary life are combined.

You will also learn to see in the rehabilitation of urban spaces new creative opportunities to develop unique and personalized proposals that respond to contemporary needs.

This programme is taught at IED Gran Vía - Palacio de Altamira.

Information to decide

Create innovative spaces that respond to new social and technological demands

The methodology of this master's program focuses on an in-depth analysis of the current context of space design, with special attention to ephemeral spaces in contemporary scenography and hybrid formats in living spaces. Through the exploration of creative direction, the emphasis is placed on creating differential concepts and innovative strategies for scenographic projects, such as runways, music or brand events, in tune with the audiovisual world of entertainment.

The opportunities presented by the experience of hybrid living are examined, where the space combines functions of housing, work, entertainment, connectivity, and well-being. Additionally, the value of materiality and sustainable finishes is addressed, along with lighting, color, and textures, in the creation of spaces with a unique identity.

Finally, the program delves into European regulations on ecology and energy efficiency, the efficient management of these projects, effective communication, and entrepreneurship in the sector, preparing you to lead innovative and sustainable proposals.

Throughout the master's program, you will develop the content through various learning models, including masterclasses with leading companies and designers, visits, labs, and workshops. You will carry out your projects in a supportive environment with the help of industry professionals. You will deepen your understanding of digital tools and effective project communication, preparing you to excel in various professional fields.

Designed for graduates with official degrees in Interior Design and Architecture or equivalent postgraduate qualifications. Graduates in Product Design may also be admitted upon portfolio review and interview.

The Master in Interior Design will provide you with the necessary tools to explore emerging ideas in ephemeral spaces and hybrid experiences. You will gain an in-depth understanding of the current context of spatial design, particularly in ephemeral and hybrid environments, transforming them into a professional opportunity for those looking to innovate in this field.

You will learn how to apply creative direction to space design and develop unique concepts, equipping you to manage all phases of a contemporary scenography project—whether for a fashion runway, a music or brand event, or within the audiovisual entertainment industry. Additionally, the program offers a comprehensive understanding of hybrid space design, integrating functions such as living, working, entertainment, and well-being, alongside sustainable materials, innovative finishes, and tailored lighting and color schemes for each environment.

Furthermore, the program fosters entrepreneurship in the sector, providing students with the skills needed to stand out in an increasingly competitive and evolving field.

Upon completing the master's program, you will be prepared to work in the following areas:

  • Design of ephemeral spaces for fashion runways, music events, film sets, brand experiences, and immersive events
