Contemporary creativity and multicultural diversity: “Memories of errant objects”, by Gildo Medina, in Unique Design

Gildo Medina,, multidisciplinary artist and IED Alumni of the Master in Arts Management in Florence, will participate with the exhibition “Memories of Errant Objects” at Unique Design X, which will take place from February 6th to 9th in Mexico City.

Unique Design X, a platform dedicated exclusively to collectible design, emerged in China during Shanghai Art Week 2019 and today continues with its own exhibitions around the world, in countries such as France, Russia, México and the United States.

After the success of the previous edition, it returns to the dynamic scene of México City, where deep-rooted cultural heritage and contemporary creativity meet. This year will feature a vibrant selection of new and returning galleries, design studios and special projects. All will be presented at Expo Reforma during Mexico City Art Week.

This platform aspires to move away from the ordinary discourse of “form” versus “function,” inviting visitors to see the familiar through an unexplored approach: the mundane and the profound come together, showcasing special works of design that are not only unique, beautiful and collectible, but also inspiring in the way we perceive the world around us.

“Memories of Errant Objects”

Born from Gildo Medina’s experience as a nomadic artist who, over the past 25 years, has lived in constant motion across cities and cultures, transforming his lived experiences into tangible creations. Conceived between London, New York, and México City, this exhibition employs materials such as leather, glass, and fragments of furniture to create sculptures, paintings, and altered objects that transcend their original purpose. Each piece serves as an intimate record, reflecting how nomadism shapes identity, transforming personal experiences into universal relics that engage the viewer in a dialogue about the connection between the transient and the essential, preserving the traces of who we are and what shapes us.
