The word “Syzygy” (in the astronomical and scientific context refers to the alignment of three or more celestial bodies in a straight line) is being used to represent a rich and multifaceted concept that transcends its astronomical roots. Viewed through the lens of astronomy, psychology, and culture, it embodies the interplay of alignment, balance, and duality. Its significance in these various fields reflect a deep-seated human desire to understand the complexities of existence, both within ourselves and in relation to the cosmos. As we continue to explore our universe and our own psyches, this idea remains a poignant reminder of the intricate connections that bind us all.

At its core, photography is about capturing moments where various elements converge. This alignment can be likened to syzygy, where each photographer orchestrates a visual symphony of their own. Effective composition often involves balancing foreground and background elements, leading lines, and the rule of thirds to guide the viewer’s eye. The art of photography has become a cosmic dance bringing forth the beauty and complexity of the human experience.

This exhibition will showcase the final project of the MA in Professional Photography of IED Madrid. It will take place from December 10-12 2024 in IED Madrid Gran Vía (exhibitions hall).
