Carlo Verdone will be the guest of a new event organized by OffiCine–IED and IED Cinema, an open talk for the city and for students, featuring a conversation with Paolo Mereghetti, renowned journalist and film critic.

From Un sacco bello to Vita da Carlo, over forty years of cinema and gentle comedy, Carlo Verdone has portrayed the fragilities, contradictions, and neuroses of Italian society with empathy, irony, and humanity. His work stands out for its ability to blend humor and reflection, never crossing into cynicism or cruelty.

A Journey Through Acting, Directing, and Social Change

The talk aims to explore Carlo Verdone’s artistic journey, both as an actor and as a director, tracing the evolution of his cinema alongside the profound changes that have shaped contemporary society. His films act as a tragicomic and self-ironic mirror, offering a form of cinematic storytelling that is deeply human and, ultimately, therapeutic.

IED Cinema Talks: Learning Through Direct Dialogue

The event is part of the IED Cinema Talks program, promoted by IED Cinema, the new Film School of the Istituto Europeo di Design. The school is dedicated to an immersive educational approach that combines theory, hands-on practice, and direct interaction with leading professionals in the film industry.

The Talks are designed for IED students, as well as for cinema lovers, aspiring filmmakers, and film enthusiasts, offering a unique opportunity to engage with influential voices from the world of cinema.
