Tíscar Espadas and Ernesto Naranjo are IED Madrid Alumni, while Edward Cuming is an IED Barcelona alumnus

A new edition of Vogue Fashion Fund award, the most important fashion prize in Spain awarded by Inditex and Vogue Spain, is here.

In this 13th edition of the award, the three finalists for most outstanding new designer are Alumni of fashion design from Istituto Europeo di Design: Tíscar Espadas and Ernesto Naranjo, who studied at IED Madrid, and Edward Cuming, who studied at IED Barcelona.

Tíscar Espadas and Ernesto Naranjo were nominated for New Talent Award at the last Premios Academia de la Moda Española.

In addition, Tíscar Espadas won the Allianz EGO Confidence in Fashion award at MBFW in February 2023. She currently teaches in some fashion programmes at IED Madrid.

Ernesto Naranjo was the winner of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Talent at MBFW in February 2014. Moreover, he has been twice finalist for this award (previously known as the Who's on Next award) in 2019 and 2022.

Edward Cuming won the Modafad Fashion Award in 2014, the same year he graduated from IED Barcelona.

All of them began their formation as fashion designers at Istituto Europeo di Design, later completing their studies at Central Saint Martins.

The line Tíscar Espadas was born in London in 2019. Today it is one of the brands that arouses most interest in the Asian market, especially in Japan.

Tíscar Espadas presents its new collections in Chapters and without following the usual frenetic calendar of the fashion world. Each collection or Chapter extends and complements the previous chapters, without discarding the oldest pieces. This is a commitment to durability and quality in the materials and eliminating the ephemeral nature of the same.

Ernesto Naranjo has worked with big names in the fashion world such as John Galliano at Maison Margiela, or Oliver Rousteing at Balmain.

Family First is the fundamental pillar on which his projects are built. All his collections are produced in the south of Spain by specialised craftsmen and tailors to revitalise a sector which, in the early 2000s, was badly damaged by the change in the fashion industry's production systems.

Born in Australia, Edward Cuming is currently based in Madrid. In 2019 he launched his own independent label. His approach stands out for its observation and exploration of the sensorial, languid silhouettes and the bold use of colour. Cuming designs atypical tailoring in favour of wearable, performance-driven looks.

All the products - with the exception of footwear, which are manufactured by Italian craftsmen - are developed and produced in Spain. In addition, more than 60% of its fabrics come from recycling processes and include all types of garments.

Other IED Madrid Alumni who have previously won this award include Moisés Nieto, Carlota Barrera, Pepa Salazar, María Ke Fisherman and Jaime Álvarez (Mans).

The Vogue Fashion Fund Award seeks to recognise and celebrate the new and leading emerging talents in Spanish fashion, with a 100,000 euro prize and the promotion and international projection of the brand, with Vogue acting as a catalyst and endorsement of the award-winning project.

Good luck to our three Alumni!
