The Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design at IED Torino offers training oriented towards fashion product development and technological innovation. Students acquire advanced skills in product development, new technologies, creative direction, and digital production. Modules dedicated to marketing and branding provide a strategic vision of the sector, enriched by the use of 3D software for design and prototyping – tools increasingly central to the transformation of the fashion industry. The programme is characterised by a meticulous methodological approach, aligned with the latest production processes, preparing professionals able to engage with the technical-industrial world of fashion.

Course structure and contents:

The programme spans three years, during which design is integrated with cultural knowledge, dialogue with professionals, technical skill development, and the use of innovative tools.

Year One: Students acquire the technical, methodological, and cultural foundations of design, creating their first clothing collections while learning pattern-making, tailoring, technical drawing, graphics, and material technologies. In parallel, the study of fashion history, anthropology, and art builds a solid cultural base to foster critical thinking.

Year Two: Technical and creative skills are consolidated through complex projects developed in collaboration with companies. Students design menswear, womenswear, and knitwear collections, exploring colour variations, treatments, and advanced processes. Digital design evolves through the use of CLO3D for virtual 3D prototyping. Theoretical studies expand with contemporary fashion, fashion marketing, and semiotics, strengthening critical capacity. Knowledge of textile culture and fashion history is combined with experimentation using eco-compatible fabrics, laying the foundations for a conscious and contemporary design language.

Year Three: Students consolidate their professional identity as fashion designers through advanced design and the use of the latest 3D technologies. The programme takes place in a simulated work environment, supported by Fab Labs and partner companies, with a focus on smart materials, technical fabrics, and wearable technologies. The thesis project represents the culmination of the pathway, integrating personal research, technical expertise, and creative vision. Alongside portfolio development, it serves as the calling card for new key figures in the fashion industry.
