Fourteen looks created by first-year students on the Bachelor of Arts in Fashion Design, pathway in Fashion Styling at IED Barcelona using upcycling techniques were displayed for two weeks in the shop windows of several Moda Re- stores across Barcelona and Sant Adrià de Besòs.
The designs were developed using garments donated by the Fundació Formació i Treball, showcasing the creative potential of textile reuse.
Promoted by Cáritas, Moda Re- is an innovative initiative that addresses the environmental impact of the textile industry through the reuse and recycling of clothing, promoting environmentally responsible solutions while fostering social inclusion. It also encourages more responsible and conscious consumption by raising public awareness of the benefits of choosing more circular alternatives. In Barcelona, the initiative is led by the Fundació Formació i Treball and operates a network of stores that not only sell second-hand clothing and surplus collections, but also serve as educational spaces where customers can learn about the textile transformation process and the importance of ethical consumption.
